วีซ่านักเรียนของประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกานั้นถือว่าเป็นวีซ่าชั่วคราว (non-immigrant visa) ก็ตามชื่อเลยครับ ผู้ถือวีซ่าประเภทนี้จะได้รับการอนุญาตให้พำนักอยู่ในสหรัฐฯชั่วคราว ว่าแต่ว่าชั่วคราวนี่นานแค่ไหน? ถ้าเป็นวีซ่าท่องเที่ยว B1/B2 เข้ามาครั้งนึงก็จะได้รับการอนุญาตให้อยู่อยู่ได้ไม่เกิน 6 เดือนหรือน้อยกว่านั้นแล้วแต่เจ้าหน้าที่ตรวจคนเข้าเมือง (CBP Officer) แต่สำหรับนักเรียน ชั่วคราวคือ D/S หรือชื่อเต็มว่า Duration of Status ก็คืออยู่ได้เท่าที่ยังคงสถานะการเป็นนักเรียนตามกฏหมายสหรัฐฯ ซึ่งการคงสถานนะนักเรียนนี่คงต้องแยกเอาไว้อธิบายต่อไปนะครับเพราะว่าค่อนข้างยาวทีเดียว ต่อเลยนะครับ วีซ่านักเรียนมีทั้งหมดสามตัวครับ 1. F หรือ Academic Student Visa ตัวนี้เป็นตัวที่คนไทยน่าจะคุ้นเคยกันมากที่สุด เพราะนักเรียนส่วนใหญ่ ถ้าที่บ้านส่งเรียน และมาเรียนวิชาการทั่วๆไป ก็จะได้รับวีซ่านี้ และเมื่อตรวจเข้าเมืองก็จะได้รับอนุญาตให้อยู่เป็น D/S เรียนจบก็ลงเรียนโปรแกรมใหม่ได้ หรืออยากจะย้ายที่เรียนก็สามารถทำได้โดยติดต่อโรงเรียนใหม่ ไม่ยุ่งยาก ทำงานระหว่างเรียนได้ ถ้าสนใจเกี่ยวกับกฏอนุญาตให้ทำงานลองหาอ่านได้จาก blog ก่อนหน้านี้ของเราได้ 2.
